The story of the Budo & Fitness Stores started in November 1992. The very reputable Budo Nord store, which since the 70s has been a leading supplier in budo / martial arts in Sweden, located on Sveavägen in Stockholm, then merged with the then training-oriented Health & Fitness store.
The two specialized store concepts with "Budo" from Budo Nord and "Fitness" from the Health & Fitness store merged and formed "Budo & Fitness Store" with the best of both concepts.
The development for Budo & Fitness was not long in coming and the success was a fact. After a few years, the Budo Nord stores in Gothenburg and Malmö were also converted. When the foundation for the store chain was laid, stores were opened all over the country.
In 2009, we opened Europe's largest Budo & Fitness department store in Stockholm - Budo & Fitness Megastore. Head office, central warehouse and webshop also moved here.
In 2013, Budo & Fitness' own dietary supplement series Black Line was launched. The products quickly became much appreciated and so noticed that in addition to the Budo & Fitness stores, they were also distributed by Sweden's second largest health food chain Hälsokraft with stores across the country.
2014 Budo & Fitness e-commerce with facelift and on a new modern Magento platform was relaunched.
2018 Budo & Fitness merged with SBI Sport and together formed Northern Europe's largest company in Martial Arts. Read more here! Today, the head office and central warehouse are located in Arlöv, just outside Malmö, where we also have a store.
In 2020, Budo & Fitness Sport launched its international webshop and today sells its main brand Budo-Nord in no less than 35 countries. Read more here.
The range, with no less than about 8,000 different products, includes the overall product groups: Sportswear, Training Accessories, Training Equipment, Sports Nutrition and Martial Arts.

Budo & Fitness Management
Sigurd Schiemann started practicing karate as a 15-year-old in the mid 70's. Left karate already after a year to start with taekwondo instead, but returned to karate in the fall of 81 and is still active. Economics studies at Lund University and a master's degree in economics in 1986. Founded SBI Sport in the autumn of 1979 as a side job to study economics and has since run the company.
Pierre Dahl has a strong connection to both "Budo" and "Fitness". Even as a child, Pierre was very interested in budo and martial arts. He started training as a 6-year-old and has a number of trips to Japan as well as roles within unions and more behind him. The interest in fitness was aroused through studies in biochemistry and sports nutrition, which via the health food industry led to a commitment in Gym & Fitness. In 1989, Pierre co-founded a sports injury clinic with the aim of optimizing his athletic performance. Over the years, Pierre has also performed assignments as a writer and author of a number of published articles on exercise, diet and educational activities in personal training. Founded Budo & Fitness in 1992 and has since run the company.
